Fortnite Season 8 Week 6 Challenges Guide: Treasure, Llamas, Throwables, and More

Season 8 of Fortnite is officially halfway over, and to celebrate, Epic Games has rolled out a new set of challenges. After a bit of a dip during the first half of the season, this week’s challenges are one of the season’s high points. You’ll be crawling around the map to find hidden treasure, monuments, and more. It’s a great way to participate in the Fortnite community, and you get rewards for completing the challenges. So let’s go over each challenge, and the best way to complete each one for week 6.

Fortnite Week 6

While we haven’t seen much new content added to the game the past couple of weeks, we have a few goodies packed in coming into week 6. On Tuesday, Epic Games introduces a crazy new item, the Boom Bow. This explosive weapon is a bow and arrow that explodes on impact, making it a great way to wreak havoc. They’ve also added giant animal monuments to the game for one of the challenges.

There are 7 new challenges for the week, and they’re fun and easy. You should be able to complete them all in just a couple of hours, and most of them can be done in a single match if you know what to do. Have fun crawling around the map, launching exploding arrows at enemies, and climbing the tallest peaks in the game.

Challenges

Every week, there are 3 free challenges that anyone can complete, and 4 paid challenges that require you to purchase the battle pass. Each challenge gets you battle stars, which can be used to level up your battle pass, getting you rewards like skins and emotes. If you complete enough of these challenges, you also get a special reward.

The free challenges are open for anyone, whether or not you have the battle pass. So if you’re on the fence about getting one, you can use these to still participate in the weekly challenges. Considering that they’re the free challenges, they’re actually some of the most enjoyable. You have to visit the 5 highest locations on the map, find giant animal statues, and get eliminations at certain locations.

The battle pass challenges are also pretty entertaining, having you go on a treasure hunt, land at specific locations, use new in-game items, and taking advantage of throwables. These challenges task you with exploring the new items in the game, and to change up your play style, and you get rewarded along the way

If you finish 4 of the challenges, you get the weekly special reward, which is usually an XP boost, but can be other things too. So you have to have the battle pass if you want to be able to get the weekly reward.

Challenge List

  • Visit a Wooden Rabbit, a Stone Pig and a Metal Llama
  • Visit the 5 highest elevations on the island

  • Stage 1: Land at Fatal Fields
  • Search where the knife points on the treasure map loading screen
  • Get an elimination with the Flint-Knock Pistol or Boom Bow
  • Use 2 different throwable items in a single match

Fortnite Week 6 Challenges Guide

Now that we’ve gone over the basics, we can cover the details for each challenge. Each week brings 7 new challenges, and each one has its own unique strategy. This week has a few of the generic ones like getting 3 eliminations at Lazy Lagoon or Frosty Flights, but it also has a ton of unique ones. With any challenges, you’ll be best off completing them in Team Rumble. If you follow this guide, you should be able to finish all 7 of these challenges in just a couple of hours, or even less.

1. Visit a Wooden Rabbit, a Stone Pig and a Metal Llama

This is one of the most enjoyable challenges this week. 3 massive animal monuments have been scattered across the map, and you have to visit each one for this challenge. As the name suggests, you have to find a rabbit made of wood, a pig made of stone, and a llama made of wood.

These statues are pretty big, but that doesn’t make them easy to find. While you can see them fine up close, if you don’t know where to look, you’ll have a lot of trouble. You may be able to find them just by looking for them, you’ll at least want to know what locations are nearby.

All 3 of them are on the coast, and you should be able to get the rabbit and the llama in one game. The wooden rabbit is located directly north of Snobby Shores, while the metal llama is just north of Junk Junction. The stone pig is at the southern tip of the map, where the tundra and the desert meet, right outside of Lucky Landing. Completing this challenge will land you 5 battle stars.

2. Visit the 5 highest elevations on the island

This is another of the free challenges, and sounds pretty simple, but don’t let yourself be fooled. You may quickly find the highest couple of points, but it can be pretty tough to figure out those 3rd, 4th, and 5th highest spots.

Polar Peak and the volcano are the obvious place to go. But the next three require some looking around. There’s a spot southeast of Frosty Flights, and two more east of Snobby Shores. You can probably fit those two into a single game, but you’ll likely be hitting one point per match.

The best strategy is to try to make these locations from above by landing in them at the start of the game. Moving uphill is hard in Fortnite, but if you’re trying to scale one of these locations, you’ll want to build structures to get up. Or if you have the Grappler, or a vehicle like the Baller, that can make it much easier to scale those cliffs and mountains. Complete this challenge to earn 5 battle stars.

3. Eliminate opponents at Lazy Lagoon or Frosty Flights

The last of the free challenges is simple, just get 3 eliminations at either Lazy Lagoon or Frosty Flights. This challenge doesn’t have to be completed in one game, so you don’t have to go out of your way to get all of those eliminations at once.

You can go out of your way to get those eliminations by heading straight for these locations, or you can rely on the storm. If the storm closes in on one of them, then you won’t even have to try to get those eliminations. Consider it an easy way to net 10 battle stars.

Stage 1: Land at Fatal Fields

The first battle pass challenge of week 6 is a stock challenge that we’ve seen before. One of the most common challenge types in Fortnite has you landing at different locations in a particular order. This week has you landing at these 5 locations, but you can only do one at a time.

  • Fatal Fields
  • Lazy Lagoon
  • Shifty Shafts
  • Frosty Flights
  • Sunny Steps

There’s no real strategy to this, other than going out of your way to land here at the beginning of the game. If you happen to jump off of a structure or fly out of a volcano vent, landing in the right location will also count towards the challenge progress. But you can’t use this more than once per match, since the next stage won’t start until you start a new game.

You’ll need to coordinate this with other challenges that encourage you to land in certain locations. For example, you can wait to get to the highest point near Frosty Flights until you have to land there for this challenge. Each stage will get you 1 battle star for a total of 5.

4. Search where the knife points on the treasure map loading screen

This is a pretty meta challenge. Back in week 3, one of the challenges tasked you with exploring an area on the map that was highlighted with a magnifying glass during the loading screen. The same idea is happening again, except this time it’s with where the knife is pointing to, as the name suggests.

There’s a few steps to this challenge. First, you have to get your battle pass rank to level 10. Then you unlock a special loading screen that you have to equip in the “locker” menu. Then when you start a game, you’ll be able to see the map, and you’ll need to go to where the knife points.

The spot you’ll want to go to is located between the desert racetrack and Lonely Lodge, in the far east of the map. Once you get there, search around for a grassy knoll, where you can interact with a mount to complete the challenge and claim 5 battle stars.

Get an elimination with the Flint-Knock Pistol or Boom Bow

The Flint Knock Pistol was added earlier this season, and we just got the Boom Bow. These one-of-a-kind items are fun to use and pack a punch. Epic games wants you to go out of your way to try them out, so they made getting one elimination with one of them a challenge for week 6.

The Flint Knock Pistol is a single shot heavy pistol that can really do some damage. It does 90 damage just for a green one, making it pretty easy to land an elimination with this weapon. The only major drawback is that the reload speed is incredibly slow, and you only get one shot per clip.

The Boom Bow is brand new, and is an easy 1-hit elimination. It almost works like a projectile, where it has an arc while you charge it up. You have to hold the shoot button to fully charge it and get a straight shot, and you’ll want to make sure that you aim for the ground by your opponent’s feet to make sure you get that elimination.

Of course, you find loot randomly throughout the map, so you just have to hope you get one of these items. If you do luck out and get one, just make that your main choice until you get the elimination. You only need one, so it shouldn’t be too difficult, especially with the Boom Bow, and you get 10 battle stars out of it.

5. Use 2 different throwable items in a single match

This is one of the easiest challenges this week, and for some reason, it lands you 10 battle stars. You just have to find 2 different throwable items and use them both in the same game. Progress doesn’t carry over between matches, so you’ll have to make sure that you do this all within one game.

Any throwables will work, and you should naturally just find them while you’re out searching for loot. You can try to incorporate them into your strategy, waiting for the perfect moment to toss some dynamite into an enemy structure. Or you can take the easy way out and pick up the throwable, use it, and swap it out for another one when you can. It’s really one of the easiest challenges this week, and it doesn’t interfere with you doing the rest of the challenges for the week.

Week 6: Finishing the Challenges

Fortnite is full of fun, enjoyable community activities. Epic Games is really trying to keep the players active and engaged, and it makes the game so much more enjoyable. This week is really the highest point of the season so far, bringing us new, exciting challenges that make you change up your style and experiment with the game’s mechanics. By taking the steps to really dive in to these weekly challenges, you’ll ensure that your maximizing your experience with this game. Plus, you get all sorts of loot, emotes, and more by leveling up your battle pass with these tasks.
