In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to block unwanted calls, messages, and FaceTime calls from unknown strangers.

3 Ways to Block a Phone Number on iPhone

There are three areas where you could block a contact or a particular phone number on your iOS device. These are:

1. Block Unwanted Calls

If you’re receiving unwanted calls from a random stranger, then the best thing you can do is to block their phone number. This is a built-in feature in iOS that’s baked into the Phone app. Here’s how to block phone numbers:

  • Open the Phone app and switch to the Recents tab. Then tap the “i” icon next to the phone number or contact that you intend to block.
  • A page opens showing the contact’s details. Scroll to the bottom and tap Block this Caller.
  • If you wish to block a particular contact, then simply go to the Contacts tab, find and open the contact you wish to block, then scroll to the bottom and select the Block this Caller option.

Apart from the above method, there’s another method to block unknown contacts and phone calls. Go to Settings > Phone, tap on Call Blocking & Identification, then press Block Contact. A list of all of your contacts are displayed from which you can choose the one which you wish to block.

2. Block FaceTime Calls

If an unknown person keeps on annoying you with FaceTime calls, then you can easily block them. Here’s how:

  • Launch the FaceTime app, then find and tap the contact or the number which you wish to block. Tap the “i” icon and select Block this Caller on the next page. Simple enough, right?

Another way of doing this is to go to the FaceTime configuration in the Settings app, then scroll to the bottom and select ‘Blocked’ to add contacts to your blocked list.

Block Messages

From the Message app, open a particular conversation, then tap on the contact’s icon at the top and choose info. Next, tap the phone number to view more details, then scroll to the bottom of the page and select the ‘Block this Caller’ option.

You can also block unwanted messages using the Messages settings. To do so, go to Messages in the Settings app, then tap ‘Blocked’. Next, select Add New to block unwanted messages from a particular contact.

Wrapping Up

Although the phone numbers that you can leave a message in your voicemail, you won’t receive any notifications from them anymore. Also, you won’t receive messages or FaceTime calls from the blocked contacts and numbers.
